Ms. Tara Marwah and Mr. Rene Panti during the PSPS Briefing
last 13 March 2024 at UPSE Judith R. Duavit-Vasquez & Class of 1984 Lecture Room
The Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) recently provided a detailed briefing to the faculty and graduate students of the UP School of Economics on the Philippine Socioeconomic Panel Survey (PSPS). The briefing included a presentation on the “SocioEconConnect: Opportunities within the PSPS,” organized by UPSE and PCED. The event, which took place on March 13th, 2024, marked a significant milestone in the partnership between IPA, Global Poverty Research Lab (GPRL) at Northwestern University, the Philippines Institute for Development Studies, and UP School of Economics.
The partnership aims to launch a twenty-year panel survey that will track a sample of rural households in over 50 barangays in Western Visayas. The survey will collect a broad range of information, including demographic data, economic indicators, and data on key priority sectors in the Philippines.
During the event, the UP School of Economics community was presented with various opportunities to engage in various fieldwork and activities during the next data collection phase. Dr. Maria Cielo D. Magno hosted the event, and the opening remarks were delivered by the Dean of UP School of Economics, Dr. Ma. Joy V. Abrenica.
