Objectives |
- To improve the technical capacity of personnel from government agencies, faculty and researchers from state universities and colleges, in project development and evaluation.
- To equip personnel from government agencies, faculty, and researchers from state universities and colleges to conduct impact evaluation research using advanced statistical tools on publicly available or proprietary datasets efficiently and aid in informing policies and regulations at the national and local levels.

Description |
- Lectures and hands-on training on using Stata and R on the different stages of impact evaluation (sampling, data visualization, analysis) will be conducted at the University of the Philippines School of Economics, Diliman, Quezon City.
Course Outline |
Week 1 | Introduction to programming basics, data visualization and analysis using STATA and R |
Week 2 | Fundamentals of econometrics using STATA and R |
Week 3 and 4 | Impact evaluation: theory of change, impact evaluation framework and methods – randomized control trials, synthetic control, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity design, difference-in-difference and propensity score matching |
Qualifications |
- Must possess basic skills in quantitative analysis, preferably familiar with statistical and econometric methods.
- Must have research, program/project and policy development and evaluation work.
- Must be available to attend ALL in-person activities from June 30 to July 25, 2025.
- Prior knowledge of Stata and/or R is preferred but not required.

Scholarship
Scholarships are available. Training scholars will be provided hotel lodging, meals, and transportation from June 30 to July 25, 2025. Air travel expenses will be shouldered by the organizers.
Stipend
The scholarship covers accommodation, meals, and transportation. Additional funds for stipends or allowances will not be provided.
Technical Requirements |
- Prior knowledge of Stata and R is preferred but not required.
- The organizers will provide a license for the Stata software during the training. R is a free software.
